Flaine is a purpose-built, car-free ski resort set in the heart of the extensive Le Grand Massif ski domain in Haute-Savoie. Its unique bowl-shaped layout guarantees excellent ski-in/ski-out convenience combined with outstanding snow cover throughout the winter.
The local Flaine sector extends from the village base at 1,600 meters up to the summit of Les Grandes Platières at 2,480 meters. Thanks to its proximity to the Mont Blanc massif, the area enjoys a microclimate with exceptional snow conditions from December through mid-April.
The resort's standout run is the Piste des Cascades, a stunning 14 km long blue trail running all the way from Grandes Platières down to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Expert skiers can test their endurance on Diamant Noir, a steep and challenging black run.
Flaine is famous for its family-friendly environment and distinctive modernist Bauhaus architecture designed by Marcel Breuer. While the après-ski scene offers cozy slope-side spots and bars around Flaine Forum, the resort mainly appeals to avid skiers looking for convenience and great terrain.
Flaine is easily accessible, located roughly a 1-hour drive from Geneva Airport (GVA). The closest major railway station is Cluses (about 30 km away), with regular bus transfers up to the resort.
The European Air Quality Index (AQI) measures the presence of particulate matter and gases. Values between 0 and 20 indicate very clean air. Above 50, air quality can noticeably decrease for sensitive individuals.
Our pollen index tracks the concentration of the most common allergens. A 'High' status means strong dispersion, which can directly impact hay fever symptoms in the region of Flaine.
