Sestriere is one of Italy's most famous purpose-built ski resorts and serves as the central hub of the vast Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski domain. Sitting high on a mountain pass, it offers seamless access to hundreds of kilometers of high-altitude slopes.
The resort village of Sestriere is situated at an elevation of 2,035 meters. The local ski area extends up to 2,823 meters atop Monte Motta. Thanks to its high altitude and extensive snowmaking capabilities, the winter sports season typically runs from early December through early April.
Sestriere is renowned for its World Cup and 2006 Winter Olympic competition runs, most notably the demanding Kandahar Banchetta (G.A. Agnelli) slope. Advanced skiers also flock to the steep black pistes dropping down from Monte Sises and Monte Motta.
The resort has a vibrant, sports-focused atmosphere mixed with traditional Italian charm. Guests can enjoy mountain dining at traditional huts or experience lively après-ski drinks and wine bars down in the main town area.
Sestriere is located roughly 100 kilometers west of Turin (Torino). The closest major airport is Turin Airport (TRN), located about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from the resort.
The European Air Quality Index (AQI) measures the presence of particulate matter and gases. Values between 0 and 20 indicate very clean air. Above 50, air quality can noticeably decrease for sensitive individuals.
Our pollen index tracks the concentration of the most common allergens. A 'High' status means strong dispersion, which can directly impact hay fever symptoms in the region of Sestriere.
