Climate and Nature
Yemen features diverse climatic conditions ranging from hyper-arid desert zones in the north and east (Rub' al Khali) to coastal tropical climates and temperate highlands in the western mountains. Its natural landscape displays dramatic mountain canyons, desert dunes, and the extraordinary isolated ecosystems of the Socotra Archipelago.
Culture and Gastronomy
Yemen boasts one of the oldest cultural heritages in the Middle East, historically tied to ancient frankincense and spice trade routes. Culinary traditions center on rich shared dishes, most notably Saltah (the national piping-hot meat stew served with fenugreek froth), Fahsa, Mandi (spiced rice with tender meat), and fresh Khubz flatbread.
Economy
Yemen's economy has historically depended on subsistence agriculture, pastoral livestock farming, and modest crude oil and gas extraction. Primary agricultural outputs include coffee (famous for Mocha beans), qat, cotton, and grain, alongside coastal fisheries in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
