Climate and Nature

South Korea features a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid driven by East Asian monsoons, while winters are cold, dry, and bring heavy snowfall to the mountainous eastern regions. Mountains cover over 60% of the terrain, framed by scenic coastlines, archipelagos, and national parks like Seoraksan and volcanic Mount Hallasan on Jeju Island.

Culture and Gastronomy

Korean culture balances centuries-old Confucian heritage with a global pop culture phenomenon (the Hallyu wave encompassing K-Pop and K-Dramas). Gastronomy is communal and centered around fermentation. Signature dishes include Kimchi (spiced fermented cabbage), Korean BBQ (Samgyeopsal and Bulgogi), Bibimbap, Tteokbokki, and Korean fried chicken, accompanied by an array of Banchan side dishes.

Economy

South Korea is a major global high-tech and industrial superpower. Anchored by world-renowned industrial conglomerates (Chaebols) such as Samsung, Hyundai, and LG, the economy leads globally in semiconductors, electronics, automotive engineering, shipbuilding, and digital entertainment infrastructure.
