Climate and Nature
Oman features predominantly a hot desert climate with extremely warm summers and mild, pleasant winters. The interior consists mostly of vast sand dunes and gravel plains. Exceptionally, the southern Dhofar region around Salalah is affected by the summer monsoon ('Khareef'), transforming the arid land into a lush green oasis with flowing waterfalls. The north is dominated by the majestic Hajar Mountain range, showcasing deep wadis and dramatic gorges.
Culture and Gastronomy
Omanis are renowned for their genuine warmth, hospitality, and deep respect for traditions. Traditional attire is widely worn, including the men's dishdasha and the ceremonial dagger (khanjar). Omani cuisine is a rich blend of Arabian, Indian, and East African influences. Signature dishes include Shuwa (marinated lamb slow-cooked in an underground pit), Majboos, and sweet Halwa, typically accompanied by cardamom-infused Omani coffee (kahwa).
Economy
Oman's economy has historically depended on oil and natural gas exports. Under the national strategy 'Vision 2040', the country actively diversifies into non-oil sectors. Key expansion areas include international tourism, logistics, fisheries, green energy initiatives, and expanding major deep-sea ports like Sohar, Duqm, and Salalah, strategically positioned along vital global trade routes.
