Climate and Nature
North Korea features a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Winters are bitterly cold, dry, and snowy under Siberian atmospheric influences, while summers are warm and monsoon-influenced. Physical geography is predominantly mountainous and forested, flanked by coastal plains along the Sea of Japan and Yellow Sea.
Culture and Gastronomy
Culture is strongly shaped by state philosophy and Juche ideology alongside traditional Korean heritage. Culinary traditions feature distinctive northern flavors. Iconic dishes include Pyongyang Raengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in savory broth), Kimchi (fermented cabbage), Injo Gogi Bap (soybean protein rice wraps), and Kaesong royal court meal sets.
Economy
North Korea operates a command economy centrally planned by the state. Primary economic sectors encompass heavy industrial machinery, military equipment manufacturing, metallurgy, mining (coal, iron ore, magnesite, and rare earth minerals), agriculture, and commercial fishing.
