Climate and Nature

The Federated States of Micronesia experiences a warm, tropical rainforest climate with high rainfall year-round. Comprising over 600 islands across four distinct states (Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae), its environment spans high volcanic islands, lush jungles, and isolated coral atolls.

Culture and Gastronomy

Micronesian culture is rooted in seafaring traditions, community ties, and ancestral customs, with distinct languages spoken in each state. Daily food relies on fresh seafood, coconut, taro, breadfruit, bananas, and yams.

Economy

The economy depends heavily on financial support provided by the United States under the Compact of Free Association. Public sector employment, commercial fishing license sales, subsistence farming, and scuba tourism drive local activity.
