Climate and Nature
Libya features a predominantly hyper-arid desert climate. Over 90% of the national territory is covered by the vast Libyan Desert, part of the Sahara. Only the northern Mediterranean coastline experiences a milder climate with seasonal rainfall and greener mountainous terrain such as the Jebel Akhdar range.
Culture and Gastronomy
Libyan culture incorporates Arab, Amazigh, and Mediterranean elements alongside bedouin traditions. Gastronomy focuses on grains, fresh seafood along the coast, and lamb stews inland. Signature dishes include Bazin (unleavened barley dough served with a spiced meat sauce), Libyan Couscous, Usban (stuffed sausages), and Asida.
Economy
The economy of Libya relies almost entirely on the oil and gas industry. The country possesses the largest proven crude oil reserves in Africa. Hydrocarbon extraction supplies the vast majority of government revenue and export earnings, complemented by coastal maritime trade and fisheries.
