Climate and Nature

Kosovo mainly experiences a continental climate characterized by warm summers and cold, snowy winters. The landscape features two high plains surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges, including the Shar Mountains and the Accursed Mountains (Prokletije), boasting deep valleys, pine forests, and alpine lakes.

Culture and Gastronomy

Kosovar culture blends Albanian customs with Balkan and Ottoman influences. Generous hospitality and a vibrant café culture lie at the heart of social life. Gastronomy is rich and flavorful, highlighted by Flija (a multi-layered crepe dish slow-cooked over ember lids), Tavë Prizreni, Burek, and grilled meats served with fresh bread and kajmak.

Economy

Kosovo has an emerging developing economy focused on services, agriculture, construction, and mining (notably lignite, lead, and zinc). Remittances and capital investments from the large Kosovar diaspora play a vital role in economic stability, alongside growing mountain tourism.
