Climate and Nature
Azerbaijan encompasses 9 out of the 11 global climate zones. Coastal areas along the Absheron peninsula feature a semi-arid environment, whereas the Greater Caucasus mountain ranges experience alpine conditions with heavy winter snow. Nature ranges from Caspian Sea mud volcanoes and subtropical southern forests to high mountain peaks.
Culture and Gastronomy
Azerbaijani culture reflects a blend of Caucasian, Turkic, Persian, and Soviet influences, famous for traditional carpet weaving and classical Mugham music. Gastronomy revolves around Plov (saffron-infused rice served with meats and dried fruits), Dolma (stuffed grape leaves), Lyulya Kebab, and black tea served in pear-shaped Armudu glasses.
Economy
The economy of Azerbaijan is predominantly driven by oil and natural gas extraction in the Caspian Basin, funding extensive modern infrastructure. Agricultural products (cotton, fruits, tea), textile manufacturing, and growing mountain and cultural tourism sectors provide additional economic foundation.
