Climate and Nature

Albania enjoys a Mediterranean climate along its coast with hot, sunny summers and mild, rainy winters. Inland and high altitude mountain regions experience a continental climate with cold, snowy winters. Its scenery ranges from the dramatic peaks of the Accursed Mountains (Albanian Alps) to pristine turquoise beaches along the Ionian Sea and deep glacial lakes.

Culture and Gastronomy

Albanian culture is rooted in ancient Illyrian traditions blended with Balkan and Mediterranean influences, guided by the traditional code of hospitality (Besa). The cuisine mixes Italian, Greek, and Ottoman elements. Classic dishes include Tavë Kosi (baked lamb with rice and yogurt sauce), savory Byrek pastries, fresh coastal seafood, and locally produced Raki.

Economy

Albania's economy has evolved into an emerging market driven strongly by a booming tourism industry. The country benefits from abundant natural resources, with agriculture (olives, fruits, wine), hydroelectric power generation, mining, and manufacturing serving as key economic pillars.
